Rent a car to get the most out of Mallorca's coast. With so many beaches to explore, having a car makes it easier to create your own schedule.
First Stop - Illetes
Illetes is the closest beach to Palma and is super accessible by public bus. It only costs €3 round trip. This intimate beach is only 100 meters long, but what it lacks in size it makes up for with the soft golden sand and clear water. If you do some exploring there are some jagged cliffs nearby that are a little less crowded, but also not so comfortable to lounge on.
Cala Pi
Encompassed by pine trees, Cala pi is a hidden gem. Before you descend the137 steps to reach the clear water and old boat house, check out the medieval Torre de Cala Pi for a view of Mallorca's jagged coast. It's not too crowded if you're there during the off-season.
S'Almunia
Head down a steep (and I mean steep) stairway to find S'Almunia. The sandy area is small, but the real charm is the area formerly used by fishermen. That is where most people put their towels down. You can also jump off the rocks, if you're brave enough.
Caló Des Moro
If you head to Caló Des Moro make sure to wear good walking shoes. You have to head through some pretty rocky terrain to get to this beach, but the journey is worth it. A local family bought the property several years ago so it couldn't be turned into a resort. They keep it open to the public for everyone to enjoy.
Last stop: Calla Llombards
This beach had the most facilities including, a beach bar, restrooms, a nearby parking lot and even volleyball nets. Take a stroll on the cliff side path for views of the open sea and then grab a drink at the aforementioned beach bar and cheer to a day well spent.
